Voting Begins at Noon Today!

by Dan Beenken July 16, 2010

We have officially closed the books on new entrants for the July contest.  In all, we have over 80 entries for the July contest, so it should be a fun race to watch.  Remember that voting starts today at noon CST and you can only vote once per day.  Get out there and spread some love to Iowa business!

Guys in my fraternity house can vote for me since they're on the same network. Is there any remedy to this issue? Because I'm missing out on a lot of votes otherwise. Thanks!

Similar to the previous comment, my wife and I have different computers, and we're two different people, but your system won't let us both vote because it says we're on the same network.

I'm sorry about the frustrations you have had with voting and the limitations we have placed on it.  We've had to do that in order to prevent voter fraud and eliminate as much of the element of people taking advantage of the "one vote per day" rule as possible.  By defining voting by network we are able to keep a level playing field for all, which is of the utmost importance.  You may want to try a mobile device or access a public facility such as a library to place your votes.

Dan, thanks for the clarification.  I'll let my wife use the home computer and I'll visit my local library.

Another question -- how is the winner determined?  Is it just the total number of votes at the end of the month, or is it the number of days they were #1?

Thanks,
Robin

The winner is determined by total votes over the course of the voting period.  The Dream with the most votes at the end of July will be our winner.

I vote in the evening while at home.   I'm not perfect and vote sometime between getting home and going to bed.  This evening your program has blocked me and says I already voted.  Can you explain in more detail your daily voting times?   Thank you.  dee

Our voting times run from midnight to midnight every day except for the 16th of every month when voting starts at noon and ends at midnight.  #4 on this link - http://www.dreambiggrowhere.com/howitworks.aspx - also gives some explanation.  If that doesn't help or answer your questions, let me know.
